Benefits of Hypnosis
Have you ever tried to remember where you left your keys, only to remember where they were just as your attention turned to something completely
different? Because your conscious mind was engaged in something else, it allowed your subconscious to function openly without judgement. This allowed the memory of where your keys were left to surface. Hypnosis functions in much the same way. By enabling yourself to be relaxed through the use of your imagination, you can bypass the conscious mind and allow yourself to find the original causes of limiting beliefs and habits you want to change.
Hypnosis can bring your subconscious back to an earlier time and give you an opportunity to make a choice you may not have had then. You can reframe your outlook to the point where its easier to let go and experience more choices in your present.
Many people are skeptical about "going back" when we know the past is over and gone. However, to our inner world, our subconscious, there is no difference between now and before. That's why dreams often interchange the past with the present, sometimes even different places we've lived appear in the same dream. Where the conscious mind often functions through judgement and fear, the subconscious simply mirrors what pictures are given to it. The subconscious doesn't distinquish any difference between a picture of something feared, and reality. It acts according to the pictures it receives. The good news is that the mind is only capable of having one thought at a time. By learning to "switch the channel" to a more positive picture or memory, your subconscious is free to create behaviors that associate with those positive feelings.
For example, if you tell yourself "I am fat" you may feel a lack of confidence,
and a feeling of futility with giving yourself the body shape you desire. This can lead to more over-eating, and continue the cycle of feeling bad. But have you ever considered what would result from learning how to consciously recognize the negative thought you are giving yourself and replace it with a postive suggestion, such as "every day in every way, I get better and better"? You might feel a sense of pride saying, "no, thank you" to an offer of a piece of cake, as you focus on the picture of the new body shape you're creating one day at a time.
Hypnosis can help you see what is hidden in your subconscious, and allow you to gain control of your choices, rather than an unknown and unseen force.
